 urvoisier and multi-instrumental woodwind player Ned Rothenberg have been 
 “in cahoots” since at least 2016’s album of the same name with violinist M
 ark Feldman. For this concert in Saalfelden\, Courvoisier and Rothenberg a
 re getting rhythmic support from super drummer Nasheet Waits\, who is also
  appearing at the festival with Courvoisier's ensemble 'Chimaera'. Their “
 Lockdown” program ranges from lyrical piano and clarinet melodies via saxo
 phone-plus-noise escapades to interactive improvisations with prepared pia
 no\, shakuhachi flute and all kinds of percussive magic. The trio's virtuo
 sity\, according to the liner notes for the above-mentioned album\, is “no
 t a question of technical exhibitionism anymore\, but of surpassing the ph
 ysical limitations of their respective instruments”.
